| During the ITB 2008, Minister of Tourism, Zuhair Garranah, stated that the German market is amongst the most essential for Egyptian tourism due to its stability.
With plans to increase the number of incoming German tourists, the minister invited Mr. Klaus Laepple, president of the German DRV travel association, to hold their annual conference in 2009 in Egypt, particularly in Marsa Alam and Luxor, knowing that such conferences always result with a significant increase in the number of tourists visiting the hosting country.
Upon holding several meetings with numerous tour operators as well as their Egyptian agents, it was stated that Egypt was the only country outside of Europe that made it into a list of the five most popular tourist destinations. The country's appeal was measured with a number of criteria, such as its affordability to visitors and the quality of its rental accommodation. Egypt is especially popular with people who want to enjoy warm temperatures during the winter months. The online portal stated that its weather was 'guaranteed' to be good for the whole year, therefore making it a good option for foreign property buyers to consider.
