Egypt's national flag carrier, EgyptAir, announced last month its purchase of the third Next- Generation Boeing 737-800. Moreover, the airline has ordered 12 of Boeing's fast-selling, single-aisle commercial jets. The 737-800 is the most popular member of the Next-Generation 737 family, with more than 2,300 airplanes ordered. Along side their purchase, EgyptAir group posted USD 2 billion in revenue for the year 2006- 2007, a 14% increase over the previous financial year. The annual number of passengers this year reached 6.5 million compared to 5.5 million the previous period. EgyptAir officials predict a grasp weight of 11 million passengers annually by 2011.
