French Singer Charles Aznavour Performs in Egypt

In January 2008, famous French singer Charles Aznavour will visit Egypt to give two exclusive charity concerts. The first performance will be taking place at the Cairo Opera House on the 3rd of January, followed by the second one in Alexandria on the 7th of January. The French channels “France 24” and “Channel 2” will broadcast Charles Aznavour’s concerts.

Born in May 22nd, 1924, Charles Aznavour is an Armenian-French singer, songwriter, actor and public activist. Besides being one of France's most popular and enduring singers, he is also one of the most well-known singers in the world. He has appeared in more than 60 movies, composed about 1000 songs, and sold well over 100 million records. Aznavour started his global farewell tour in late 2006.

In 1998, Charles Aznavour was chosen as “Entertainer of the Century” by CNN and users of Time Online from around the globe. Aznavour was recognized as the century's outstanding performer, with nearly 18% of the total vote, edging out Elvis Presley and Bob Dylan.
